The Usdaw/Tesco Partnership covers the largest group of members in the Union. The Union has separate agreements with the Company Distribution depots, covering grocery and dry goods. Head office staff also have an agreement. Approximately 121000 of the Unions' membership (343000) are covered by these agreements.

The stores have a number of different terms and conditions depending on the type of store. The main difference between the stores agreement and any other in the Union, is that members are not given the chance to vote on their terms and conditions of employment. THUD believes that this is totally unacceptable and calls upon members to campaign to redress this inequity. To assist in this campaign a petition will be available for members from usdawdemocrat@hotmail.co.uk Simply request the petition and get your members to sign. The law provides for members to have a say in their workplace and the right to vote on important aspects of their conditions of employment. Union/Company agreements should not take this right away from us!

We the undersigned being employees of Tesco, call upon the Company and Usdaw to re-instate our right to vote on our Terms and Conditions of Employment. We believe that an employee should have the right to vote on the negotiations which take place between Tesco and Usdaw which determine our rates of pay, holidays etc. Our inability to vote on these issues means that we have no confidence that the settlements have the support of the majority of Usdaw members/Employees.
